Women and children express happiness after receiving state-of-the-art radio sets designed for the people of disaster areas. Internews Pakistan with the help of UNHCR distributed 10,000 radios in NWFP and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Radio is the most effective and common medium of information for the people of areas that were badly hit by the deadly earthquake in October 2005 killing over 83,000 people and rendering some 3.5 million homeless.
