Nighat says she came into journalism “by pure chance,” but now it is her life calling. She graduated with an MA in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Peshawar , where worked as a producer and presenter for FM 107 Peshawar Campus Radio. Nighat was the first female reporter from the University of Peshawar brave enough to work in the earthquake zone. She will never forget being brought to tears by the story she covered about a pregnant woman in Banda Sahib Khan Camp who had lost everyone in her family, except her year-old baby. Nighat is committed to highlighting the plight of women and children, and is grateful to her parents for allowing her to break through social constraints placed on women.
